Simply Said Wedding Vows

Thank you everyone for being here.

We are gathered here today to witness the coming together of two very special people, Bride & Groom names, whose hearts and spirits are entwined as one. The two of you are now taking into your care and keeping the happiness of the one person, in all the world, whom you love best. You are adding to your life not only the affection of each other, but also the companionship and blessing of a deep trust as well. You are agreeing to share strength, responsibilities and to share love.

Real love is something beyond the warmth and glow, the excitement and romance of being deeply in love. Love makes burdens lighter, because you divide them. It makes joys more intense because you share them. It makes you stronger so you can reach out and become involved with life in ways you dared not risk alone.

It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding and a sense of humor.  It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.  It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.  It is finding room for the things of the spirit. It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.  It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal, dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.  It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.

Therefore, the true art of married life is in this an inner spiritual journey. It is a mutual enrichment, a give and take between two personalities, a mingling of two endowments, which diminishes neither, but enhances both.

You both promise to be there when you need one another, to fill each other’s days with sunshine, to comfort and encourage one another, to help each other reach your own goals, to be each other’s very best friend and to love one another all of your life and with all of your heart.

Bride, please pass your flowers. Both please and turn and face each other and hold hands.

Groom, please repeat after me saying to Bride,

Bride, you are the love of my life, the joy in my heart, the peace in my mind, and the breath in my lungs. You are the laughter in my voice, the butterflies in my stomach, the smile on my face, and the tears in my eyes. This day, I am thankful every day, since the moment I met you, for the wonderful blessing you bring to me.”

Bride, please repeat after me saying to Groom,

Groom, you are the love of my life, the joy in my heart, the peace in my mind, and the breath in my lungs. You are the laughter in my voice, the butterflies in my stomach, the smile on my face, and the tears in my eyes. This day, I am thankful every day, since the moment I met you, for the wonderful blessing you bring to me.”

Having this kind of love in your hearts for one another, you have chosen to exchange rings as the sign and seal of the promises you are making to one another today.  May I please have your rings?

These rings symbolize your new life together, for they are never ending and always beginning. As you wear these rings, whether you are together or apart for even just a moment, may these rings be a constant reminder of the promises you are making to one another today.

Groom, will you please take this ring and place it upon the third finger of Bride’s left hand, please repeat this promise to her,

Bride, our journey begins today. Wherever the wind may carry me, I will stay by your side as your husband.  With all that I am, and all that I have, take this ring as a sign of my love, so long as we both shall live, I honor you.

Bride, will you please take this ring and place it upon the third finger of Groom’s left hand, please repeat this promise to him,

Groom, Our journey begins today. Wherever the wind may carry me, I will stay by your side as your wife.  With all that I am, and all that I have, take this ring as a sign of my love, so long as we both shall live, I honor you.

I would like at this time, to try to speak of some of the things, which many of us wish for the both of you. We wish for you a home, not a place of stone and wood, but an island of peace, a place from which you will receive strength and support that stays and carries with you throughout your daily lives.

We hope that your home encompasses the beauty of nature that has within it the elements of simplicity, beauty, silence, and color, in concordance with your dreams and aspirations. We wish for you a home of books, poetry, and music. Most of all, may the road ahead of you be filled with love, promise, excitement and never-ending adventure.

Bride & Groom, Because you have so affirmed, in love and knowledge of one another, and with the power vested me as a minister with the State of California/Nevada, I now pronounce you to be husband and wife.

Groom, you may now kiss your bride.

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is with great pleasure that I introduce to you, for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. _______________
